| Yes, Toronto has excellent nightlife. On New Year's Eve it really gets insane; there are huge festivities (concerts, ice-skating and a big countdown celebration) at Nathan Phillips Square (our "Times Square", sort of) and almost every club and bar has its own party. Last New Year's my friends and I just went out without any plans or idea, and we ended up in this little hole-in-the-wall bar that gave us party hats and served us free champagne at midnight. If that's just what a tiny little bar does, imagine what the big clubs do! The streets are absolutely filled with people. In the regular season, the nightlife is still great - basically, you hit up a neighbourhood/street. For example, if you're the alternative rock type you'll like Queen St. West. If you want to go clubbing, you could go to Richmond St. If you want nice, posh lounges you should try the King St. area. If you want fun college bars with good food, hit up The Annex. Whatever you're into, there will be an area of Toronto's downtown that suits you. If you want some help finding a place, there are a bunch of sites that can help: The Toronto.com Nightlife guide (a bit more for tourists): http://www.toronto.com/bars_clubs/article/520656 The NowToronto Nightlife guide (a bit more for locals): http://www.nowtoronto.com/issues/2007-03-08/cover_story2.php Toronto Life's Bar & Clubs guide (for new stuff): http://www.torontolife.com/guide/bars-and-clubs/ I hope this helps! |
