...more tolerant and accepting than those who adhere to monotheistic religions?

I consider Christianity a polytheistic religion.. and its quite far from tolerant and accepting.

No, not at all. As with anything else it depends on the person. I have seen many polytheistic people (because their are many) who have no tolerance for anything that is outside of their social, cultural or spiritual beliefs.

Many parts of India are good examples of this.

Well, I think it's important to look at the term polytheistic with regard to modern religions. The most popular polytheistic religion would be Hinduism, they have somewhere around 3 million gods. But, my experience in studying Hinduism is that their poytheism really is nothing of the sort, but rather giving different names to the various and infinite manifestations of God. God in the running river, God in the sunshine, God in the other (Namistae).

It's because they see God as part of nature rather than other (outside of nature as in the Western tradition) that they seem more accepting. In other words, if everything is God how can you reject anything?
