| It probably depends on how old you are. Based on what I've read in the past it would seem that the 20's or the 50's would be the golden age. Babe Ruth shattered all of the home run records in the 20's and made the sport very popular. In the 50's there were a lot of good young players like Mantle, Mays, Aaron, Clemente, Banks, Kaline.... The game had good rivalries with the Brooklyn Dodgers and New York Giants as well as the New York Yankees. |

| Twenties through the early 1960s. Babe Ruth restarted the game after the 1919 BlackSox scandal. It stopped being as prevalent when the culture changed around mid-60's. That's about when it stopped being a game for the players, and began being a huge moneymaker. The guys who played because they loved the game started to go away. |
